History

The house was build in the late 40:ties as a garage for the Lidingö tram. The tram opened already 1907 with line nr 20 that run between Ropsten and Kyrkviken - "The Church bay" close to the hotel.
Later came the south line, nr 21 from Ropsten to Gĺshaga, passing by AGA gas plant, with Gustav Dahlén as a co financier. For a period the tram went all the way to Stockholm city. On June 13th 1971 line nr 20 was closed down, while line 21 is still running.

When the trams were gone the building was turned into squash courts and a restaurant.
1979 the hotel was build while the restaurant and half of the squash courts still remained. In the eighties it was very trendy to play squash and dine in Restaurant Smedjan, "Restaurant the Forge"

In the 90ties the hotel was run by 3 sisters of the Troberg family. The father, Picko Troberg was a famous car racer. The hotel changed name to Ariston Hotell when it was sold year 2000 and the remaining squash courts was turned into the health club of today, Friskis and Svettis.

Since May 1st 2004 am I owning and running Ariston Hotell. A new breakfast room has been build ajoining the reception and the restaurant is closed down.
My ambition is that one should feel comfortable at home, that the hotel is filling it´s function and to keep on developing.

Welcome here!
